Ranch Week Itinerary
SUNDAY – Whether you drove in or flew and we met you in the ranch van, you are welcome! Let’s get acquainted at the Lodge with a glass of lemonade & homemade cookies. After dinner, we’ll have an orientation mixer in the Lodge or by the trout ponds to discuss the Ranch and your interests for the week. Then we’ll head to the barn to meet the horses and let the fun begin!
MONDAY – Guest breakfast will be served at 8:30. Head up to the barn and riding arena at 9:15 and take part in our western horsemanship session and orientation ride (1 – 1 1/2 hours). We’ll acquaint you with your horse, and you’ll have time to become comfortable with your new friend. After lunch, an afternoon ride leisurely takes in the spectacular sights and sounds of the Mortimer Gulch. Barbeque cook-out dinner followed by evening campfire with the Triple J crew.
TUESDAY – THURSDAY
We’ll offer horseback riding options during the week depending on your interests.
Highlights for the week include:
Experience riding in the Rockies, Montana style taking our lunch with us and visiting the neighboring valleys and mountain passes!
Explore the wide open prairie where nose to tail riding is discouraged!
Fishermen grab a sack lunch and head to the water.
See the famous Sun River Game Range and Sawtooth Mountain via horseback to see why it’s called “Big Sky Country”. Yippekiyai!
Work with a Wrangler in the arena to perfect your skills.
Other activities may include hiking, fishing options, non-technical mountain climbing, team cattle penning, trap shooting, archery, wildlife watching, canyon interpretive tours, horse shoes, volleyball….The week is yours to decide!
FRIDAY – Choices abound with a morning ranch rodeo/gymkhana (horse games) followed by an awesome closing Mortimer West Ridge ride / hike. OR take one last “all day” ride around Mortimer Peak for those adults wanting to see and explore new horizons. End the week with a fantastic steak barbeque. There will be stories to tell at dinner tonight!
SATURDAY – Enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls on the breakfast buffet and snap those last minute pictures. (Saturday breakfast served at 8 am to accommodate flights) Plan a reunion with the other guests you’ve met and sign the ranch guest book with highlights of your week. We hate to say good-bye…..until our trails cross again!
*Some activities are weather dependent and there are many variations of above itinerary so we can customize your week. Guests may do as much or as little as you like. Each day is your adventure!
